Travel Healthy This Summer With These Portable Snacks

The Best Portable Snacks to Travel Healthy This 4th of July

It’s easy to find food when you’re traveling. Finding healthy and portable snacks is another story. If you’re looking for fast food, soda, chips and candy, you’re in luck! But I often find my clients frustrated with the lack of healthy munchies on the road. However, you don’t have to give into the pressure to eat crappy food that leaves you tired, bloated and moody. There ARE great portable options! All it takes is a little research and planning before your trip. To make that easy, I’ve compiled a list of my favorite portable snacks to bring on road trips, flights, and train rides to your next summer adventure!

PureLyft Clean Caffeine

PureLyft

Leave the chemical-laden energy drinks at home, and grab a PureLyft stick instead. With green coffee bean extract, zero calories, no artificial sweeteners and as much caffeine as a tall coffee, these caffeine sticks will give you a lyft (see what I did there?) without the jitters. Bring the sticks with you, and then break them open into flat or sparkling water for a clean energy boost

Golda Bar Whole Food Protein Bars

Golda Bar Cacao Almond

Not enough can be said for the lack of truly clean protein bars out there. So–shameless plug–I created these bars to fill that gap. Chock full of grass fed whey protein, coconut oil, gentle soluble fiber, almond butter and Stevia, these bars are a great 200-calorie, gluten free, protein-rich snack with no artificial sweeteners or preservatives, single-digit sugar grams (with no refined sugar added) and plenty of whole food, non-GMO ingredients to keep you satisfied and energized between meals. No compromise needed

The Good Bean Roasted Chickpeas

The Good Bean

Gluten free, nut free, vegan, Kosher, and non-GMO, these are a crunchy, protein- and fiber-rich snack that packs a serious flavor punch. With as many grams of protein as a serving of almonds, as much folate as 3 cups of spinach, and as much fiber as 2 cups of broccoli, crispy chickpeas will keep you energized and satisfied

RW Garcia Kale and Beet Crackers

RW Garcia Artisan Crackers

These tasty artisan crackers are gluten free and non-GMO. They’re also packed with chia, flax and black sesame seeds for added protein and healthy fats. Not to mention, the kale flakes and red beets will bring a little veggie goodness to your travels

Krave Beef, Chicken and Turkey Jerky

Krave Jerky

I love all of the fun flavors Krave offers, including the unexpected Basil Citrus, Black Cherry Barbecue, and Lemon Garlic! In addition, Krave jerky is always gluten free, all natural and 100% full of lean cuts. The texture is tender, and the ingredients are wholesome. They also now offer Krave sticks for even better portability

Optimum Nutrition’s Cake Bites

Optimum Nutrition Cake Bites

While the ingredients list is not organic or whole food based, I still love Cake Bites. They are an excellent, low sugar, high protein dessert substitute. Grab a pack of 3 bites when you’re trying to avoid that summer ice cream or those sugary baked goods because these babies really work. They satisfy that airy, baked good texture craving without all the flour and refined carbs. They come in 3 flavors (Birthday Cake is my fave!) and pack 20 grams of whey protein with just 5 grams of sugar in a pack of 3 bites

Steaz Zero Calorie Green Tea

Steaz Zero Calorie Green Tea

Generally speaking, zero calorie sweetened drinks are typically full of artificial sweeteners, but not Steaz! Made simply with Stevia, vitamin C and organic green tea, these are portable (available in 16 ounce cans), sweet, flavorful, antioxidant-rich, and guilt free

Verday Chlorophyll Water

Verday Chlorophyll Water

Chlorophyll is an active antioxidant ingredient in green veggies and some fruits. Its cleansing, balancing, deodorizing, and cancer-fighting properties are backed up by science and used in some cancer treatments and liver health protocols. Verday offers cleansing chlorophyll in a bottle with flavors like watermelon and blueberry. With 0 calories and potent antioxidant properties, I bring these for an antioxidant boost everywhere I go. Get your green on, even on the plane!

Ola Loa Sport Hydration Packets

Ola Loa Sport Hydration Fuel

These low-sugar hydration packets are a burst of antioxidants, essential minerals, vitamin C, and other nutrients that support energy, the body’s natural detox (methylation) process, and hydration levels. These are particularly great if you’re traveling on a plane (hello, dehydration!), live an active life, and/or are traveling to a hot climate. Even if you’re simply looking for antioxidant support as a part of a healthy diet, these packets will provide you with the boost you’re looking for. Break open a packet into a liter of water on the plane or into a glass after a long day in the sun, and boost your energy with Ola Loa

Flackers Flax Crackers

Flackers Cinnamon and Currants

These flavorful, Omega 3-rich crackers are at the top of my list for just about any occasion. Gluten free, vegan, fiber-rich and low in sugar, I love that the flax seeds are soaked to optimize digestion and absorption of essential Omega 3 fats. These little crackers are filling without the heaviness of some other types of whole grain crackers. Given that they’re grain free and simply full of flax seeds, they’re low in carbohydrates, high in Omega 3s and plentiful in plant-based protein. My favorite flavor? Cinnamon and Currants!

Mamma Chia Squeeze Packs

Mamma Chia Chia Squeeze

Hailed as The Original Chia Seed Drink, Mamma Chia now offers their chia seed goodness in a portable squeeze pack. Hello Omega 3s and fiber! More specifically, each squeeze pack contains 1200 mg Omega 3s and 4 grams of fiber, with organic, non-GMO ingredients packed in a BPA-free pouch. Choose your fruity flavor, and bring your Omega 3s with you!

Daily Greens Green Juices

Daily Greens Renew

I’ve been singing Daily Greens’ praises for several years now. I love these juices. They’re cold-pressed, low in sugar, and packed with green veggies! And their founder, Shauna Martin, is a breast cancer survivor who ensures that every empty bottle of Daily Greens supports other young women fighting breast cancer, including the Young Survival Coalition. Always organic and always cold pressed (no heat, no spin), Daily Greens recycles 100% of their juicing waste by donating to organic farms to use as a natural fertilizer and organic soil booster. One of my favorite things about Daily Greens is their constant drive to make green juices accessible: each 12-ounce bottle of leafy green goodness is between $3.99 and 4.99!

Even if you grab just a few of these great snacks, energy boosters and hydrators for your next trip, each of these flavorful options will make eating and drinking healthy on-the-go easier and more tasty than you may have thought possible.
