Weekend Reflection #36 Busy Week…Getting Ready for Christmas

Another week is again over. As I get older it seems like time goes by even faster.

I’m starting to get used to being a stay at home mom once again. I think we are getting into a routine. I try to wake up before the kids so I can work on my blog. The only chance I have to blog is when everyone else is in bed due to the fact that our computer is out in the family room. When the television is blaring and the room is full of kids there is too much of a distraction for me.

This house here in California is about a third the size of our old house back in Wisconsin. I learned this week that I can straiten up the whole house in about four hours. So I’ve vowed to keep it as clean as possible while I am not working.

It is so much fun watching Conan and Ciara play together. She is the typical big sibling. She tells me what Conan wants and he follows her everywhere. He doesn’t always want what she says, of course. It’s really funny. She’s also getting pretty mean with her little brother. We were playing in Conan’s bedroom yesterday and she took away every toy that he wanted to play with. If I found another toy for him and he started to get interested in it Ciara would go over and take that one as well. Sometimes she can be a little stinker.

My husband and I are very proud of Courtney. She came home from school yesturday with a pile of papers all of which had no more than one mistake. Also her teacher nominated her to participate in the Academic Talent Search at Sacramento State. If she passes the entrance test she can take special courses at Sacramento State this summer. I am very excited for her and hope that she scores well on the test.

We are almost ready for Christmas. I mailed out my Christmas cards this week. Our Christmas cookies are done and last night we went for our annual drive around town looking at Christmas lights. Ciara had fun pointing out the lights. Courtney was quiet the whole time because her dad didn’t let her bring her new book along. Conan fell asleap right away, which was what we wanted anyway.
