Weekend Reflection #50 San Diego

I am back!

We had a wonderful family vacation. It’s been two years since we went away as a family so we all had a great time. My husband took over 300 photos on our trip so as soon as I get them all organized I will be able to share some of them with you. I might just upload them to photo bucket and set them up in a folder together so you can view them there. We’ll see.

We arrived at our hotel in Escondido late on Easter Sunday. On Monday we took the kids to a beach in Oceanside. This beach was beautiful. They had a little playground for the kids and the sand was white just like Florida! I couldn’t believe how white the sand was. All the other beaches that I have been to out here in California the sand has been an icky brown or black color. But this beach was beautiful.

Conan got a terrible sunburn on Monday. I’ll admit it was my fault too. But every time I applied sunscreen on him he put sand over it. The sand must have washed the sunscreen off. It was so bad that even his nose blistered.

The weather wasn’t too great the rest of the week so Monday was the only day we went to the beach. San Diego was experiencing record low temperatures while we were there. Just our luck too. It is hard for me to believe in global warming after my not so sunny trip to San Diego. The high temperatures were in the upper sixties the rest of the week. Some days when it got pretty windy and felt a lot cooler. But we still had a great time.

On Tuesday we went to the San Diego zoo. The kids enjoyed seeing all the animals. Courtney especially enjoyed the zoo. Wednesday we did the same thing. We got a two park pass that was good for the whole week. Wednesday evening we were fortunate enough to attend Escondido’s local tea party. I think there was at least 500 people there. It was great! I could write a whole blog post just on the tea party but I might save that for my political blog, if I find the time to update it.

On Thursday we went to the San Diego Zoo’s Wild Animal Park. That was a lot of fun. But by the time we went there my feet were so sore from all the walking we did at the zoo. I had a hard time keeping up with everyone. And that park has a ton of hills. I am just a few weeks away from my third trimester but my body is already feeling the effects of pregnancy. I get sore and tired easily, especially when I am exercising.

We left Escondido yesterday morning. Going through LA was a breeze and we ended up ahead of schedule which was cool. Chris was predicting a lot more traffic through LA. We stopped at the Regan library in the Simi Vally. The area was beautiful and the weather was nice and warm. Chris said that it was warm there because the hills blocked all the wind. I loved the Regan library and if the kids were not with us Chris and I could have spent all day there looking at the exhibits. They had the Magna Carta on display and had an Easter Egg hunt for the kids. Eggs signed by famous people were hidden in the different displays.

We finally arrived home here in Sacramento around 8pm last night. The van still has to be unpacked and we need to pick up the cats from the cat hotel before noon today.

Because the internet was not working right at the hotel I couldn’t do any blogging but I thought a lot about this blog and my future goals. I thought alot about Entrecared and have decided that dropping cards every night is not worth all the time an effort. Plus it slows down my computer and I have been getting a ton of spyware, adware and a few viruses from visiting all of those blogs. However, I will remain a member. I am also going to reject the paid ads. I have a new marketing strategy for this blog. I’ll share as soon as I reach my goals.

Conan is crying so I think I better go. I would love to hear about how your week went!

Sounds like a wonderful week with your family, even if the weather sounds a little on the cooler side.

The beaches just sound gorgeous!! Looking forward to seeing your photos. And, whatever you have up your sleeve for the blog.

What a great vacation! Must have felt great after 2 years to be able have a family vacation!

The zoo sounds like so much fun! I’m hoping to get the kids to a small zoo for the first time this summer. I think they’ll love it!

I feel so bad for little Conan and the sunburn. We actually had a bit of nice weather here this past weekend and I missed putting lotion on a spot on Blake’s face and he got a little burn too.

I heard about those tea parties. I wondered what they were all about? Sounds like they would have have been interesting to attend.
