Weekend Reflection #51 Pregnancy Update

It is Saturday once again. Nothing really exciting happened this past week, so this might be a short article.

We got back from San Diego last Friday and I spent most of my time this past week catching up on my blog and organizing my blogging business. I’ve decided that I need to take my blog serious and treat it like a business. I’ve tried numerous home businesses in the past including direct sales and my blog has been the only one that I’ve actually brought in a profit from. So I know that I can make some good money with this if I put my mind to it and work extra hard.

On Wednesday I started to show signs of preterm labor for the first time during this pregnancy. I am only 24 weeks as of Thursday so it is a little early for me to be experiencing preterm labor. When I was about 25 weeks along with Ciara I was hospitalized for pre-term labor. They gave me some shots to stop the contractions and put me on an iv. After an overnight stay and prescription medication they were able to get the contractions under control. I was also placed on bed rest for the rest of my pregnancy. But Ciara was still born 5 weeks early.

When I was pregnant with Conan I was closer to 30 weeks when I first started experiencing pre-term labor. We knew the gender that time around and the doctor said that premature boys have a harder time than premature girls do so I was placed on the same medication and total bed rest until I reached week 36. Conan was only born 2 weeks early. They considered him to be full term.

When I was pregnant with Courtney I was young and had no idea what contractions felt like. My water broke prematurely at 36 weeks. I definitely do not want that to happen this time around.

To make a long story short, my father-in-law took the kids on Thursday and Friday so I could rest. This helped allot and my contractions went away. Hopefully they will not come back this week.

The kids are doing great. Courtney went back to school and she spent the night last night at a friends house. Ciara is starting to behave a little better and she only ended up sleeping with Mommy and Daddy a couple of times this week. Conan is already acting like he is two and he is only 21 months. Chris took the kids with him to the gym this morning and at the child care center there Conan threw a fit. I guess he had a poopy stinky in his pants and didn’t like it so he stuck his hands in his pants and rubbed it all over himself. I’m so glad I wasn’t there!

Anyway, I hope you had a wonderful week. I’d love to hear how it went. If you decide to join us for Weekend Reflection this week don’t forget to leave your link!

I hope your pregnancy goes smoothly & you don't have to go on bed rest. I don't know if I could deal with that. That's nice that you were able to get some rest. Take it easy.

Blessings Cascia…Congrats on your pregnancy and take it easy! I'm glad that you had a chance to rest but poor daddy & child care center!
I love San Diego! Have an aunt & cousin there but it's been a while!

Thank you for coming by and reading about Compassion & their trip to India. I do songs every Sat. & Sun.
One is a meme with Amy, “Then sings my soul Saturday” then I do one that just posted for Sunday…with a scene, a song, or a scripture, called Super Sunday! Some call it Super Simple Sunday. I tried to figure out what Weekend Reflection was…but I'm not a mom, and certainly not a pregnant mom in her 50s…so I clicked on the thing below Mr. Linky that said learn more & it didn't work. 🙁 sorry
I reflect alot on the weekends but don't usually blog it!

Much success to you at making your blog a profitable business! That makes me glad to see “moms” be able to earn at home. Now stay rested or off your feet as much as you can.
Did I say “thanks” for your visit!?

Thank you for visiting my blog!

I hope the docs will help you avoid preterm labor without resorting to bed-rest. Take good care!

I am definitely going to keep you in my prayers for a safe pregnancy!

I would love to hear more about how you have made money with your blog. I wish I could bring some income in!

I didn’t know you were pregnant, Cascia! Congratulations!! You are only 2 weeks ahead of me. I also have a history of preterm labor. My water broke with Hannah at 32 weeks and she spent 25 days in the NICU. I will pray for both of us to have healthy full term babies this time around!!

Yikes, that is so scary about pre-term labor. Do the doctors know why? I was worried about that when I was pregnant because my mom had me (I’m her only child) at 30 weeks. My son was 25 days early (born 36 weeks+one day) so he was considered full term so I thought I was out of the woods but my doctor said that since he was borderline, I’ll still have to be alert next time, too. It sounds like you definitely are which is all you can do, so good job for taking care of yourself – I am glad you had a good weekend! P.S. Thank you for the comment on my blog yesterday!
