We all know that childhood obesity is a problem in the United States. As an advocate for better health with the desire to educate families on this important issue I have turned to my talent for writing. Connie Butera who also shares the same passion for this issue decided to do her part by creating a fun fitness program for families.
She found her inspiration through her nieces and nephews when they decided to work out with her. Connie decided she would teach them healthy habits that would last a lifetime.
“Children tend to emulate adults, and parents are the best role models, so I modified my workout to accommodate the fitness needs of kids of all ages, as well as parents, in order to create family fun with a purpose,” says Ms. Butera. “The results for my nieces and nephews have been inspiring- they’re healthy, athletic and confident, and best of all we’ve created great bonds.”
Fighting the childhood obesity epidemic begins with the parents. Just You and Me Kid was designed to make fitness fun for the whole family. I was thrilled when my 3 year old daughter became excited about trying the fitness moves. Even though she didn’t quite understand how to do the exercises on the DVD she jumped around and moved her body throughout the first 20 minutes. It is important to do whatever we can to get our children to move. Creative videos like Just You and Me Kid are great tools that we can use as parents to teach our children about fitness.
The DVD begins with a 20 minute cardio/toning workout and ends with a more intense 10 minute cardio workout. It features Ms. Butera with her nephews and nieces, Daniel (17), Andrew (15), Brigette (12), and Jacquilynn Maggio (10). You can purchase the DVD on Just You and Me Kid.com for $15.99 or enter to win your very own copy by leaving us a comment.
