Do You Participate in Blog Awards?

I have received several blog awards in the past, but I don’t always find the time to blog about them. Between writing about my family, sharing health tips, product reviews, communicating with the writers here at Healthy Moms and dealing with my personal life I always seem to accidentally skipping the awards.

I know that the main purpose of these blog awards is to link up to great blogs and share them with your readers. There are so many wonderful blogs out there so whenever I get an award it is hard for me to choose a few blogs to pass it along to. But, don’t get me wrong whenever someone honors me with an award I am flattered and appreciate the gesture. I also know that there are other ways to link up to other blogs.

Here at Healthy Moms I try to link to as many blogs as I can. We have a free Blog Directory, and I feature blogs once a week in our Spotlight Blog column. These services are free and open to any mom blogger or health blogger.

I do want to thank these three women who have given me awards during the past and I haven’t been able to link to them until now. I am so sorry that I wasn’t able to let you know how much I appreciate the awards sooner.

A while back Tina from the Mummy Diaries did this column where she would ask her readers to offer there tips and answers to other readers’ questions. I answered one about children and nutrition. The following week she chooses the best answer and for that particular week my answer was featured. Thank you Tina for featuring my answer and giving me that award. Tina is from the UK and I always enjoy visiting her site. She writes about a variety of topics from her family, to strange and unusual photos and stories, and parenting and pregnancy tips. If you haven’t visited her yet you will love her site and it is one that you should add to your reader. Thank you again for the award, Tina.

Andrea from Memories as a Mom also gave me an award a while back. I feel a special connection with Andrea. We are both from the Midwest, are about the same age, are passionate about writing and we married our husbands on the same exact day. Strange. She is a very talented writer, special person and a blogger friend that I would love to meet in person someday. She writes mostly about her family and her cutest little boy, Logan. I love visiting her site and reading all her updates. I am sorry I didn’t recognize the award she gave me until now. Thank you Andrea. Please visit her site, Memories as a Mom and tell her hello from me.

Kimberly from Pretty Pink Momma gave me an award back in February. She too is a very talented blogger. Her site is full of information about her family, product reviews, coupons and discounts, and chic finds. I always learn something new when I read her blog. Kimberly, I am so sorry that I didn’t get around to thanking you for the award until now. Please visit Pretty Pink Momma and add her site to your reader.

Even though I appreciate the awards I don’t like to participate in them for a number of reasons. The first ones being what I discussed earlier. I just run out of time. Another reason is because I am trying so hard to provide only the best information for my readers. I want our readers to come away with new information, inspiration or just that “wow” feeling. That is why I feature several talented bloggers as writers here at Healthy Moms and their sites in my Spotlight Blog column.

My question for all of you is this: do YOU participate in blog awards? When you receive one how long does it take for you to respond? Is it a priority for you? I look forward to reading all of your responses.

I am honored when I receive an award! I thanks the person as soon as find out, and I always accept and make a post. Sometimes that takes about a week.

I am also honored when I receive awards, but I find it very difficult to choose the blogs to pass them on to or finding the time to post about them. Last time I received a few awards, it took me a month to post them. I do thank the person immediately, but I don't post about them until I'm ready to really accept them and pass them on.

I usually don't respond because I'm never quite sure what to do. I just like to visit other blogs which is what I'll do after our blog is closed. I haven't been able to meet with my partner and probably won't until the end of the month.

  5. I used to always post each award but I've found I just don't have the time lately. I always thank the person but I rarely post them…and I always feel bad.

  6. I am very honored when I get an award and I try to post about it. I thank the person. It is getting harder to find the time to post and find blogs to pass it the awards on to. I wish they were easier to do, and don't require so much from me..

Oh, I'm awful at acknowledging awards.

I waited so long, and then Ihad 12 I had to put up. It took 2 days of posts to do.

I know, I know, it's the the thought that counts.

But, seriously, I am a bad recipient. Though I enjoy the appreciation.

I just wrote a post about this very subject recently, http://www.redheadranting.com/i-hate-blog-awards/. The post is tongue in cheek but the sentiment is the same. I loved them at first but now I just don't have the time for all they entail, and my traffic plummets on the days I do posts about awards. I'm grateful for the recognition and that someone thought my blog deserved an award but my blog has become a business and I have to choose my posts very carefully.

I do feel honored when I get an award, but sometimes there are so many that it's hard to post about them and it's even harder to choose a few blogs to pass them on to when I have met so many great bloggers.

I do put a blog award widget on my blog though and add each award and the name and blog url of the person I received it from.

Then at odd times if I realize I haven't visit so and so in awhile then I just visit someone from the blog award widget.

This is a great topic. I liked them when I first started. Now time really doesn't permit me to do it. It takes so much time to write the post. On the other hand I'm not honored because most of the time the person I get an award from is not a rgular reader. SO, then I assume they've ran out of bloggers & now pulling from straws. If it's one of my regular commentors & readers then I'm honored

I am honored to get them. I find it hard to find time to pass them on. I post them and thank the people who have given them to me on my blog.
