Ultrasound is a very important tool that doctors use to monitor the health of a baby during pregnancy and for other medical reasons.
I found the ultrasounds that I had done very beneficial during my pregnancies. When I was just eleven weeks pregnant with my second child I saw her for the first time on the projected screen from my ob’s ultrasound machine. Early in pregnancy, ultrasound is used to help determine the mother’s due date and to detect bleeding or other complications. The doctor can also use ultrasound to measure the baby’s growth in utero. When a mother is about twenty weeks pregnant the doctor is able to determine the gender of her child through the use of an ultrasound machine.
Ultrasound is also used in general medical practice. With an Ultrasound Machine physicians can obtain images of internal organs such as the kidney, liver and heart. These images help the doctor determine abnormalities or the existence of tumors within these organs.
When I was young I had severe pains in my abdomen. Through the use of ultrasound my doctor was able to determine that I had gall stones the size of a quarter and therefore needed emergency surgery to remove my gall bladder.
Ultrasound is widely used in the medical field and doctors should make sure that they own a reliable, good quality machine that can produce accurate images for their patients.
