It can be a challenge for busy moms trying to juggle work, appointments, play dates and ‘me’ time. While it’s great to give it your all, it can surely catch up to you. One of the first places to show signs of fatigue is the skin. Even if you still have the stamina to plow ahead, things like puffy under-eyes, dull skin and fine lines are sure giveaways that you’re moonlighting as Wonder Woman. While it may seem difficult to do anything for yourself these days, there are four simple steps to revitalizing sleepy skin.
1. Exfoliate
Incorporating a face scrub into your routine just once or twice a week can have a big impact on your complexion. Throughout the day the skin can become clogged with oil, dirt and makeup. Exfoliating helps to whisk away build-up, like dead skin cells, which impart a lackluster tone to a naturally beautiful complexion. Additionally, those women who are suffering from acne can choose a chemical exfoliant with salicylic acid for a gentle, yet effective, method.
2. Moisturize
Keeping the skin conditioned is crucial for tired complexions that have become dried out from heat, air-conditioning and natural changes in climate. Moisturizers provide essential nourishment to the skin, which allows it to breathe. Everyone can benefit from using a skin-type appropriate face moisturizer. For anti-aging benefits, find a daytime product with sun protection, and keep it in your purse for easy access.
3. Hydrate
Our bodies are made up of mostly water. As babies, the body’s water content is at an all-time high, averaging nearly 78%; that’s why newborns have such plump, soft skin. With time, we lose water more frequently and our skin starts to age. Adult women’s bodies are made up of about 55% water content, so it’s important to replenish it regularly. Drinking enough water each day is a great way to give your body the moisture it needs to look gorgeous. Check with your doctor to find out your body’s daily requirements.

4. Smile
You can do it anywhere and anytime, except maybe at funerals. Smiling strengthens the muscles of the face and automatically makes you look more youthful. Additional benefits of smiling include looking more attractive, being more approachable and potentially living longer. Remember to smile genuinely because a fake smile is easily detected and can be more noticeable than those frown-lines you’re trying to hide.
With these four simple steps you can help your skin to look more awake, even if you would rather be tucked in bed hitting the snooze button.
