Fitness Friday – #BlogHop #LinkUp – 5 Reasons Why You Should Work Out

My readers often tell me that they are so busy that it is hard to find “me time.” Once you have established a routine which includes time to yourself it is important to set aside some of that me time for fitness.  Below are 5 reasons why busy moms should work out.

1. Exercise Reduces Stress

Studies show that physical fitness causes your body to release endorphins which helps reduce stress levels and improve mood.

2. Exercise Helps You Maintain a Healthy Weight

Any type of physical fitness burns calories. The more intense your workout, the more calories you are going to burn. In order to maintain a healthy weight or lose weight you must keep track of your calories in versus calories out.  Walking, taking the stairs instead of the elevator or doing household chores can also help you burn calories.

3.Exercise Helps Prevent Diseases and Health Conditions

Regular exercise helps protect your body from high-blood pressure, heart disease and diabetes. Being active boosts high-density lipoprotein (HDL), or “good,” cholesterol and decreases unhealthy triglycerides. The increase in good cholesterol helps keep your blood flowing smoothly to reduce your risk of cardiovascular disease.

4. Exercise is a Great Energy Booster

Being the caretaker in our homes and families wares busy moms out quickly.  If you are feeling tired by mid-afternoon, a good workout will give you some extra energy you need. Regular physical activity also improves muscle strength, endurance and helps your heart and lungs to run more efficiently.

5. Exercise Promotes a Better Sleep

If you are having trouble falling asleep or staying asleep, exercise will help you fall asleep faster and deepen your sleep for a more restful night. Just don’t exercise too close to your bedtime or you will have a difficult time falling asleep.
