When You Can’t Stand Instant Noodles Another Day
When I was in college I didn’t eat much and certainly didn’t cook healthy meals for myself. Ramen noodles, pizza, baked chicken and simple casseroles were my staples. Back then I was young and cooking was not a priority. Looking back I kind of wish that it was.
Today I am older and wiser and understand the importance of cooking healthy meals and eating a variety of different foods. If you want the proper nutrition to remain healthy and strong and get through your day with energy you can not eat the same food every night.
Chelsea Jackson and A.N Gephart also understand this and are sharing that message to college students all over the U.S in their book, “Cooking Through College : When You Can’t Stand Instant Noodles Another Day.”
This easy to read and detailed cookbook features many recipes that are healthy, simple, and created with the college student in mind. If I had this book when I was in college I am certain I would have been healthier, stronger and had more brain power. This is a perfect last-minute gift idea for your favorite college student.
“Let’s be straight here, college students don’t have time to sleep-let alone cook. Crappy food makes you feel like crap and think like crap. So it is time for you to make good food (both in taste and quality) a priority.
Don’t go thinking you can just eat better food and then nail all your tests and ace all your classes. You still have to work, but like a well-cared-for-car, you will run better with healthier food (and more sleep).
These recipes are designed around short cook times, prepare-and-leave slow cooker meals, or make-ahead foods. The idea is to cook more food less often so that you have time to tackle all your responsibilities without forfeiting your health by eating frozen burritos and fast food. Plus, food is going to be around your whole life. You might as well learn how to make it well. Whether you are a guy or a girl, knowing how to cook is high on many people’s’ “must-have” lists for potential suitors. Impress them and learn how to cook.” “Cooking Through College : When You Can’t Stand Instant Noodles Another Day,” Introduction.
After I graduated from college I wasn’t the best cook. I burned a few meals, was known for making messes in my kitchen while attempting to cook a meal, and tried a few recipes that failed. But, with practice I soon learned the art of cooking and baking. If I had “Cooking Through College : When You Can’t Stand Instant Noodles Another Day,” I am sure I would have learned how to cook sooner.
